Don S. of Waukon, Iowa built a pair of matching night stands for his son, who sent him a photo of a store-bought version and asked for them in native black walnut. The walnut came from a tree on the family’s own property.
The drawer boxes are pine, running on full-extension slides that Don says cost $22. The work was done with a table saw, surface planer and router, and his son took care of the finishing.

My son sent me a picture of a night stand from a furniture company. He wanted them made of native black walnut. Walnut used came from tree on our property.
