Looking for an effective way to organize and charge all your devices? This amazing charging station project was created by Houseful of Handmade, and it’s perfect for keeping your electronics tidy and ready to use.
This wall-mounted charging station holds two phones, two tablets, and even a spot for Bluetooth headsets, with a hidden compartment for power strips and cords.
Materials Needed:
- 1×2 boards
- 1×4 boards
- 1×6 boards
- 1 1/4″ Kreg pocket hole screws
- USB power strip
- Cord holders
- Dowel (1 1/4″)
- Wood glue
- Finishing nails
- Hinges
- Sandpaper
- Stain or paint (optional)
Step 1: Cut the Pieces
Start by cutting all the necessary pieces for the charging station. You’ll be using basic 1x2s, 1x4s, and 1x6s. Make sure to measure the top piece accurately to fit over the width of the charging station.
Step 2: Create Angles on the Sides
To allow devices to rest at an angle, cut an angle on the sides of the charging station. Measure an inch and a half over and four and a quarter inches up, then cut along that line.
Step 3: Drill Holes for Headphones
Drill a 1 1/4″ hole for the dowel that will hold the wireless headphones. Ensure the hole is vertical to keep the dowel straight.
Step 4: Add Pocket Holes
Add pocket holes to all pieces that will be assembled together. This will make the assembly process easier and more secure.
Step 5: Assemble the Charging Station
Begin assembling the charging station by attaching the bottom pieces to the sides. Use wood glue and pocket hole screws for a sturdy build.
Step 6: Adjust the Shelf for Tablets
If your design doesn’t accommodate tablet cases, adjust the shelf accordingly. Replace the shelf with a wider board to provide enough space for the tablets.
Step 7: Create the Lid and Airflow
Measure and attach the top board. Make sure to leave some space for airflow around the electronics inside the box.
Step 8: Drill Holes for Cords
Drill holes for the USB power strip and cord holders. This will help in organizing the cords and keeping them tidy.
Step 9: Finish the Charging Station
Sand and finish the charging station as desired. You can paint or stain it to match your decor. Finally, attach the hinges for the lid.
Step 10: Enjoy Your New Charging Station!
Your charging station is now ready to use! It provides a neat and organized solution for charging all your devices in one place.
