Looking for a versatile lumber storage solution? This incredible lumber cart was designed and created by DIY Montreal, and it’s perfect for organizing your workshop.
Materials Needed
- 2 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood
- 4 caster wheels (2 with brakes)
- Wood glue
- 1-1/4 inch wood screws
- 1-1/4 inch pocket hole screws
- #12 1-inch pan head screws
Tools Required
- Circular saw
- Table saw
- Miter saw
- Drill/driver
- Palm router
- Kreg jig
- Clamps
- T-square
Step 1: Cutting the Plywood
Start by measuring and marking your plywood with the help of a T-square. Cut down your plywood into the required panel sizes using a circular saw, and then refine your cuts with a table saw and miter saw for accuracy.
Step 2: Assembling the Side Shelves
Begin by assembling the horizontal shelves on the left side. Cut shallow dados to help align the shelves easily. Attach the shelves using wood glue and screws from the backside.
Step 3: Creating the Center Compartment
Follow the same process for the center compartment. Make shallow dados, then use glue and screws to assemble. Remember to create pocket holes for later assembly.
Step 4: Reinforcing the Base
Before attaching the caster wheels, reinforce the base by adding a small block of plywood. Secure the caster wheels using screws to ensure stability.
Step 5: Final Assembly
Now comes the fun part! Put everything together by applying glue and aligning the side shelves with pocket hole screws to fix them to the base.
Step 6: Enjoy Your New Lumber Cart!
Congratulations! You’ve built a functional lumber storage cart that not only organizes your workspace but also makes it easy to access your materials. Feel free to customize it further to fit your needs!
