This project, designed and built by Molly from Woodbrew, is perfect for those wanting to enhance their living space. Whether you’re a beginner or have some woodworking experience, this guide will walk you through the steps to build a beautiful media center.

Materials Needed:
- 4 six-foot project panels
- 4 select pine 1x2s
- 3 select pine 2x2s
- 10 feet of cane webbing
Tools Required:
- Circular saw
- Drill
- Pocket hole jig
- Sander with 220 grit sandpaper
- Pocket hole clamps
- Speed square
Step 1: Cutting the Panels
Molly begins by measuring and cutting the side panels and the middle panel. Using a speed square, she marks her measurements to ensure straight cuts. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try to freehand the cuts, but using a straight edge is always safer.

Step 2: Preparing the Boards
After cutting the panels, Molly realizes she needs to adjust the width of some boards. It’s important to remember that mistakes happen, and they can often be fixed without scrapping the entire project. In this case, a small adjustment is all that’s needed.

Step 3: Drilling Pocket Holes
With all pieces cut, the next step is drilling pocket holes. Molly emphasizes the importance of drilling on the frame side to maintain a clean appearance on the finished product. It’s a critical step that will make assembly much easier.

Step 4: Assembling the Base
Now it’s time to assemble the base using pocket holes. Molly labels each piece during the cutting process, which helps keep track of everything. She connects the side pieces with stretchers and uses pocket hole clamps to hold everything in place as she screws it together.

Step 5: Building the Cabinet
Once the base is complete, Molly moves on to constructing the cabinet. She encounters a few alignment issues but quickly adapts by making necessary adjustments to ensure everything fits correctly. This stage highlights the importance of taking your time and double-checking measurements.

Step 6: Final Assembly
With the cabinet assembled, Molly attaches the top and connects it to the base. She finishes up by ensuring all screws are tightened and that the structure is sturdy. However, she runs into a minor problem with the door hinges, which will need to be addressed in the next part of the project.
