Looking to tackle that messy utensil drawer in your kitchen? This custom drawer organizer project was created by Cassity from Remodelaholic, and it’s a perfect solution for organizing your kitchen utensils efficiently.

Materials Needed
- 1/2 inch plywood
- Table saw or circular saw
- Washi tape (for layout)
- Sandpaper
- Wood sealant (optional)
Step 1: Measure Your Drawer
Start by measuring the length, width, and depth of your drawer. Clear out everything that shouldn’t be in the drawer and organize the remaining items. This will help you determine what sizes of spaces you need for your organizer.

Step 2: Plan Your Layout
Use washi tape to outline where your dividers will go. This will give you a visual representation of the space and help you plan for the channels where the dividers will slide into.

Step 3: Cut Plywood Strips
Using a table saw, cut a 2×4 sheet of 1/2 inch plywood into 3 inch by 2-foot strips. If you don’t have a saw, many hardware stores can cut the plywood for you.

Step 4: Create Channels for Dividers
Set the table saw blade to remove 1/8 inch of material. Adjust the fence to the width of your first divider section and run the board through the saw. Repeat this process until the channel measures 1/2 inch wide to fit the plywood.

Step 5: Assemble the Organizer
Start by placing the first channeled piece at the front of the drawer. Insert the divider and then place the next channeled piece. Continue adding layers and measuring the remaining space for snug-fitting pieces.

Step 6: Adjust and Secure
Make adjustments as necessary for larger utensils. The organizer is held in place with tension, allowing for easy modifications later.

Step 7: Organize Your Utensils
Finally, load all your utensils back into the newly organized drawer. Enjoy the neatness and ease of access!

What do you think of these newly organized drawers? This project can easily be adapted for bathroom vanity drawers, desk drawers, and even that junk drawer every home has.
