This project, designed and built by Woodbrew, is perfect for both novice and experienced woodworkers. The step-by-step guide below will help you create a stylish and functional outdoor lounge chair.

Materials Needed
- (1) 1″ x 8″ x 3.5″ board (for chair legs)
- (1) Project panel (for seat and back)
- Wood glue
- Wood filler
- Outdoor finish (like Total Boat Halcyon Clear)
- Trim head screws
Tools Required
- Miter saw
- Drill
- Clamps
- Sandpaper
Step 1: Cutting the Legs
The first step is to cut down the 1″ x 8″ x 3.5″ board to create the legs of the chair. Make sure to measure carefully to ensure a good fit.

Step 2: Preparing the Seat Panel
Next, cut down the project panel for the seat. Ensure you have enough material for both the bottom and back of the seat, avoiding any mistakes.

Step 3: Making Angled Cuts
To create a comfortable seating position, you’ll need to make angled cuts along the edges of the seat panel. All the angles and measurements are provided in the plans available below.

Step 4: Ripping Boards for the Back
Using the same material as the legs, rip the boards at the same angles as the back so they can sandwich the back of the seat in place.

Step 5: Creating the Leg Frame
Form the legs into a rectangle shape and then tie them together using pocket holes drilled in both ends of three boards: one for the back, one for the front, and one for the bottom.

Step 6: Assembling the Seat Frame
Attach the bottom of the seat so it is flush with the front. Measure and mark a line for precision, then clamp it down and screw it in.

Step 7: Adding the Back Stretcher
Secure the back by attaching it to the back stretcher, ensuring it is sturdy and well-supported.

Step 8: Filling Holes and Sanding
Once the assembly is complete, fill any holes with wood filler and sand down the surfaces to prepare for finishing.

Step 9: Applying the Finish
For outdoor projects, the finish is crucial. Apply Total Boat Halcyon Clear, a water-based outdoor finish that is UV resistant and durable. You only need to wait an hour before recoating, and sanding between coats is unnecessary.

Step 10: Adding Feet
Finally, attach feet to the bottom of the chair to prevent water damage and prepare it for its final resting spot.
