Why Build a Rotating Bookshelf?

Getting Started

Before assembling the bookshelf, each piece was carefully cut to uniform sizes. Consistency in measurements is key to achieving a balanced and polished final look.
Assembling the Bookshelf
Once all the pieces were prepped, Ale started assembling the bookshelf by securing the shelves to the side panels. Instead of attaching the first shelf immediately, the second shelf was installed first. This method helped keep everything level and properly aligned.
Strong adhesive and even pressure were applied to hold the shelves in place. Any gaps or minor misalignments were addressed later during the finishing process.
Adding the Rotating Base
One of the key features of this bookshelf is its ability to rotate. To achieve this, Ale installed a lazy Susan mechanism at the base. This type of hardware allows smooth and stable movement, making it easy to access items from all sides.
Proper alignment of the rotating hardware was important to prevent wobbling. Once positioned correctly, it was secured firmly and given time to fully set before testing the rotation.
Finishing Touches
After assembly, the bookshelf was sanded to smooth out rough edges and imperfections. A wood filler was used where needed before applying the final finish.
For a modern and clean look, Ale opted for a painted finish. A white coat brightened the design and complemented the overall aesthetic. Once dry, the bookshelf was ready for use.
