Looking for a simple yet stylish full-length mirror project? This DIY tutorial was created by Justin and Jess from Justin and Jess DIY, and it’s perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your bedroom.

Materials and Tools Needed

  • 2 pieces of 1x3x8 pine boards
  • 3/4 inch plywood
  • Weathered oak stain
  • Provincial stain
  • Polyurethane finish
  • Mirror glue
  • Kreg Accu-Cut jig
  • Kreg Jig K4
  • Circular saw
  • Drill
  • Sanding paper
  • Measuring tape
  • Cloth for wiping stains

Step 1: Build the Frame

Start by cutting your 1×3 boards. You’ll need two pieces for the top and bottom, measuring 18 inches each. The side pieces will need to be a bit longer, so measure them at 69.5 inches to account for the thickness of the top and bottom pieces.

Step 2: Sand and Stain the Wood

After cutting your wood, sand down the edges to smooth out any imperfections. Apply a coat of weathered oak stain and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off. Follow up with a provincial stain for a richer tone.

Step 3: Prepare the Plywood

Next, cut your 3/4 inch plywood to the dimensions of the mirror (18 inches by 68 inches). This will serve as the back of your frame. Use the Kreg Accu-Cut jig for straight cuts, ensuring precision.

Step 4: Drill Pocket Holes

Using the Kreg Jig K4, drill pocket holes into both the plywood and the 1×3 boards. This will allow you to connect the pieces securely while keeping the screws hidden.

Step 5: Assemble the Frame

Connect the top and bottom pieces of the frame to the plywood using the pocket holes. Make sure the top and bottom are flush with the width of the mirror for a clean look.

Step 6: Attach the Mirror

Now it’s time to attach the mirror to the plywood. Use a special mirror glue and apply it carefully to avoid excess spilling onto the surface of the mirror.
