- Feather board

Step 1: Prepare the Walnut Board
Start by joining two edges of the walnut board to create a larger surface. Resaw the board into quarter-inch panels by cutting through a little at a time until you reach the halfway point. Flip the board to finish the cut.
Step 2: Glue and Clamp the Panels
Joint the edges on the table saw to ensure a straight fit. Apply a gentle amount of glue and clamp the boards together without applying too much pressure to avoid bowing.
Step 3: Create the Template for Holes
Download and print a template for the holes you will need to drill. Make sure to print at 100% scale. Use an awl to mark the center of each crosshair on the template.
Step 4: Drill the Holes
Using a drill press and a Forstner bit, drill out the holes in your walnut board. A backer board will help prevent splintering on the backside.
Step 5: Cut the Dividers
Cut thin pieces of wood to create dividers between the columns of the game. Use a stop block for consistent widths.
Step 6: Assemble the Game Board
With the dividers cut, apply glue to the areas where the dividers will be attached. Use weights to hold them down while the glue dries.
Step 7: Create the Discs
Cut out discs from the maple wood using a hole saw. Depending on your setup, this process may take some time. Sand each disc down to ensure smooth edges.
Step 8: Final Assembly
Once all components are ready, assemble your elevated Connect Four game. Apply a finish to enhance the wood’s appearance and protect it.
And there you have it! A beautifully crafted elevated Connect Four game, perfect for family game nights or as a decorative piece in your home.
