Materials:

- (1) 1x2x8
- 1 ¼″ pocket hole screws
- (1) pair 20″ drawer slides

Step 1: Cut the Plywood
Start by cutting your plywood into the necessary pieces for the table. This includes the top, bottom shelf, and the legs. Make sure to follow the dimensions listed in the building plans.
Step 2: Assemble the Base
Begin assembling the base of the table by attaching the top supports around the legs. After that, add 2-inch wide plywood strips around the bottom to support the bottom shelf.
Step 3: Install the Bottom Shelf
Notch out the corners of the bottom shelf to fit around the legs. Once notched, place the shelf on the supports and secure it with wood glue.
Step 4: Create the Top
The top of the table will consist of four pieces. The two outer pieces will attach to the base, while the two middle sections will flip open to reveal a shallow compartment. These middle sections will also have game boards on the underside.
Step 5: Add Game Boards
Using Cricut, design and cut out a Tic Tac Toe and a Checkerboard pattern for the underside of the middle sections. Apply these using transfer tape for a clean adhesion.
Step 6: Install the Hinges
Before attaching the top, install hinges on the two middle sections so they can flip open. Consider using a router to create a mortise for the hinges to minimize gaps.
Step 7: Attach the Top
Secure the top pieces to the base using pocket holes and screws. Make sure everything is flush and aligns properly.
Step 8: Add the Drawer
Finally, install a shallow drawer using drawer slides. Build the drawer box from remaining plywood, ensuring it fits within the table’s design.
Step 9: Finish and Stain
Stain the entire table with your chosen color and finish with a protective sealant. Add drawer pulls to complete the look.
And there you have it! This multifunctional coffee table is ready for game nights and puzzle sessions.
