Materials Needed
- Gorgeous ash wood boards
- 3/4 inch plywood
- 1/2 inch birch plywood for drawer boxes
- Wood glue
- Finish (Wipe on Polyurethane)
Tools Required
- Kreg Jig
- Table saw
- Circular saw
- Jigsaw
- Drill
- Clamps
- Screwdrivers
Step 1: Prepare Your Lumber
Start by milling your own lumber to achieve the desired thickness. You’ll need both one and a half inch thick and three quarter inch thick boards. For managing large sheets of plywood, use a circular saw with a guide for more precise cuts.
Step 2: Cut Your Boards to Size
After milling, cut your boards to the necessary dimensions. For the one by eight boards, ensure they are cut to seven and a quarter inches wide, and for the legs, make them two and a half inches wide.
Step 3: Assemble the Vanity Frame
It’s time to assemble the frame. Use a Kreg Jig to drill pocket holes for joining the pieces. Make sure the skirt and side panels are flush with the inside of the legs for a clean look.
Step 4: Create the Open Shelf
Next, create an open shelf that fits snugly around the legs. Carefully measure and cut notches using a jigsaw to ensure a tight fit. Secure the shelf with pocket holes at each corner.
Step 5: Build the Drawer Boxes
Use half inch birch plywood to construct the drawer boxes. Cut grooves for a quarter inch panel to slide into the bottom. Assemble the boxes using wood glue and pocket hole screws, ensuring everything is square.
Step 6: Attach Drawer Fronts
Finally, attach flat pieces of the wood as drawer fronts. Choose the prettiest pieces to ensure the grain flows beautifully for a modern minimalistic look.
